Requirement for Change of name on Marriage:


  • A copy of the Marriage Certificate

Endorsement of Child on Parent's Passport:


  • Completion of Form C.A.F.
  • Letter of consent from the father (in case of single parenthood please provide proof).
  • Photocopies of the pages of father's passport showing identity and passport validity.

  • Two passport photographs of the Child.
  • Production of mother's passport for the endorsement.

Emergency Travel Certificate:

    As the name implies, Emergency Travel Certificate is issued for emergency purposes only, when and if the standard passport is lost. ETCs are issued to facilitate applicants immediate departure for Nigeria only.

  • Police Report stating the loss of a Nigerian Passport.
  • Passport photographs of the applicant.
  • Original and photocopy of the return ticket to Nigeria.
  • Payment of the fee of £33.00 after interview.
  • Completion of application forms for ETC (supplied after interview)
  • Presentation of photocopies of pages 1-5 of Guarantor's valid Nigerian passport and the data page;pages 32/33 if EEC passport type
  • 2 Utility bills of the guarantor or the invitee.
  • Postage services are not acceptable.
  • Air ticket to Nigeria.

Issue of passport to a Child of five years and above(First Issue):
  • Completion of Form C1;
  • Letter of consent from both parents. In case of single parenthood, show proof;
  • Photocopies of data page of parents' passport must be attached to the application form;
  • Photocopy of the child's long birth certificate;
  • Two studio-taken passport size photographs of the applicant;
  • Payment of: i. For children whose names are previously endorsed on parent's passport, £39 in Postal Order made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London or by Credit/Debit card. OR ii. For children whose names are not endorsed on parent's passport, £54 in Postal Order made payable to the Nigeria High Commission London or by Credit/Debit card; AND
  • Submission of Guarantors Form (P. 21) sworn before the Commissioner of Oaths of Nigeria High Commission;
  • Application must be submitted in person or by post through special delivery (including return postage); (PAYMENT BY CASH OR CHEQUE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE).

Replacement of Lost Passport:
  • Letter to the High Commissioner stating the circumstances of loss of passport;
  • Completion of one copy of form C1;
  • Submission of the photocopy of the data page of a valid Nigerian Passport of the Guarantor including the Guarantor's Form (P.21) duly Sworn before the Commissioner for Oaths at the Nigeria High Commission;
  • Submission of a Police Report clearly stating loss of the Nigerian Passport;
  • Submission of Birth Certificate or Sworn Declaration of Age duly signed by Commissioner for Oaths of Nigeria High Commission;
  • Submission of a Sworn Declaration of the loss of Passport signed by the Commissioner for Oaths of the Nigeria High Commission;
  • Submission of two studio-taken passport photographs (one of which must be endorsed on the reverse side by the Recommender who must be a Nigerian);
  • Documentary proof of profession (Letter from Employer or P60);
  • Payment of £166.00 in Postal Orders(made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London) or by Credit/Debit Card;
  • Submission of proof of applicant's residence status i.e. letter from the Home office showing evidence of stay in UK;
  • Proof of applicant Address in UK i.e. 2 utility bills (e.g. Gas , Electricity ) or Bank Statement;
  • Letter from the academic institution (Students only).
  • Ticket Stub / Airline letter showing evidence of trip to the UK (for Non-Resident).
    NOTE:
    1. All applications for re-issue of lost passports must be submitted at the counter. Applicants would thereafter be required to submit themselves for personal interviews. This is however subject to satisfactory scrutiny of their submissions.
    2. The Guarantor must be a reputable Nigerian with good knowledge of the applicant
    3. All submissions must be made in duplicates
    4. PAYMENT BY CASH OR CHEQUE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Passport Renewal (After 5 years - Passport, which has not yet served the normal ten years lifespan).
  • Submission of the Passport Renewal Form (P.25);
  • Payment of £21 in Postal Order (made payable to the Nigeria High Commission, London) or by Credit/Debit Card;

    Requirements for Non-Impediment to Marry

  • Proof of Divorce (Decree Absolute), if previously married Photocopy of Nigerian Passport
  • Notarized Declaration of Non-impediment to marry
  • Payment of £20 Service Charge AND £15 Processing Fee both in PostalOrder and payable to Nigeria High Commission London
  • Proof of Impeding marriage
  • Letters of non-impediment are issued to Nigerian nationals seeking to either marry for the first time in Britain or to those who are seeking to remarry. Procedure for Renunciation of Nigerian Citizenship

  • Applicant is required to approach his/her country's Embassy/High Commission to obtain a letter of introduction confirming that he/she has acquired the nationality of that country;
  • Applicant to write to the High Commission expressing his/her wish to renounce his/her Nigerian citizenship;
  • Applicant must then surrender his/her Nigerian Passport together with his/her letter of renunciation of Nigerian citizenship; The Nigerian passport is then cancelled;
  • Applicant is required to pay a renunciation fee of £100.00 in postal order for the document, and £20.00 processing fee totalling £120.00 also in postal order made payable to the Nigeria High commission.Please Note: If express service is required, additional £50 must be made. Thereafter, the High Commission issue a letter confirming renunciation.

Requirements for Police criminal Check (From Nigeria)

    In order to process your application, we will require that you present to us either by post through registered mail and self-addressed registered envelope or in person, the following documents:

  • 3 copies of your Nigerian passport with detailed data
  • 3 copies of the pages containing your current visa
  • 3 passport sized photographs
  • 3 copies of the data form (filled)
  • Payment of £15.00 in postal order for the document, and £10 processing fee also in postal order payable to the Nigeria High commission
